Blu Bathworks is a modern bathware design house and manufacturer founded in 2006 by award-winning designer Michael Gottschalk. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Blu is known for sleek, contemporary bathroom fixtures and fittings that combine a sophisticated European aesthetic with sustainable design and production.
With an inherent passion for water, Blu Bathworks is committed to developing sustainable products for an ecological future. This passion inspired the creation of the brand’s signature eco-friendly blu·stone™ material – an exceptionally durable, customizable material crafted primarily from quartzite – which, in addition to its low–energy production process & recyclable nature – provides superior water temperature retention. This combination of design, quality & sustainability motivated us to select a number of blu•stone™ pieces for River Vine, including award-winning halo freestanding bathtub for the Master Bathroom, precision-engineered low threshold shower base and a variety of vanity tops, vessel sinks and pedestal basins.
Another innovative aspect in conserving water is the EcoAir system, available in a selection of Blu Bathworks Italian-made hand showers & rain showers – one of which was selected for the project in modern polished chrome finish. The EcoAir system provides an incredible 50% water savings by mixing water with external air particles, simultaneously resulting in a comfortable water jet that promotes deep feelings of well being – decreasing consumption while performing better at any pressure!
An ideal fit with River Vine’s sustainability goals and clean-lined aesthetic, we outfitted River Vine’s bathrooms with Blu Bathworks’ latest high-tech electronica digital tapware – a smart home system that promotes water efficiency. For example, it allows users to preset up to three preferred combinations of temperature and flow rate! Other neat features of electronica include an LED light ring that indicates water temperature, and electronica faucets can be operated by iPhone or iPad using an App on an existing wi-fi network!
We also opted for Blu’s Italian-made wall-mount vanities to further achieve our modern design aesthetic, with coordinating mirror medicine cabinets for additional storage opportunities, all of which are made with low formaldehyde emissions to create a sustainable, architectural bathroom solution that offers both form and function.
